Can You Still Play WarioWare: D.I.Y. Online in 2026?
Not through Nintendo. The online side of WarioWare: D.I.Y. ended on May 20, 2014, when Nintendo discontinued Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for DS, DSi and Wii software.
The good news is that most of the game never needed the internet in the first place.
What stopped working
The NinSoft Store is gone, so there are no more downloads of the weekly games, big name games or challenge picks. The online crates are gone too. Each player used to keep two of each content type online, where registered friends could grab them.
Submitting to Wario's WarioWare D.I.Y. theme games challenges also ended with the service. Medals 104 to 114 are now impossible to earn, because they depend on online features.
What still works
Everything on the cartridge still runs. That covers the 90 Diamond Software microgames, the Super MakerMatic 21, the Record MakerMatic and the Comic MakerMatic.
Sharing with someone in the same room still works too, since trading microgames DS to DS happens over local wireless and never touched Nintendo's servers.
If you are getting back into the editor, Penny's WarioWare D.I.Y. hints and tips still cover animation, AI switches and the Assembly Dojo.
How fans kept the games alive
Before the shutdown, the Glorious Trainwrecks community ran an event to swap as many microgames, records and comics as possible. The organizer planned to convert submissions into .mio files and archive them.
The Super Mario Wiki also keeps a list of the downloadable microgames Nintendo released before Wi-Fi Connection closed, including Japan only big name games such as the ones from comedian Sekai no Nabeatsu.
